Info: Dutchess is a 14-year-old kind and gentle mare with a unique history. In her younger days, she was a racehorse, and I even have videos of her races on file! Since retiring from the track, she’s transitioned to a more relaxed lifestyle and has been a joy to work with both on the ground and under saddle.
This sweet mare stands tied like a statue, picks up her feet easily, leads, loads, and has excellent ground manners. She is 100% sound, has no health issues, and is an easy keeper. Dutchess does well in a stall or pastured with other horses, is low in the pecking order, and does not act mare-ish around other horses.
Dutchess has an easygoing personality and has been used as a casual trail horse and family horse by her previous owners. She’s a smooth, comfortable ride with a great stop and backup. While she’s not hot-headed, she will move out when asked. I’m currently introducing her to the barrel pattern, and she’s showing great promise as a barrel prospect! She rides bareback, lets you climb all over her, and has a truly great mind.
Dutchess will continue advancing in my training program until she’s ready for her new home. She should be ready by late March, early April 2025. She’ll come with a current Coggins, shot records, dental records, deworming, chiropractic work, and hoof care schedule on file. I am currently waiting on her AQHA papers to be mailed back from AQHA.
If you’re looking for a versatile, well-mannered mare with a bright future, Dutchess might just be the perfect fit. Contact me for more details or to schedule a visit!
